The SH 130 Concession Company and the Texas Department of Transportation are committed to ensuring that SH 130 Segments 5 & 6 are built in ways that minimize environmental disruption. Federal approvals for SH 130 Segments 5 and 6 specify measures that the SH 130 Concession Company and TxDOT must take to meet environmental regulations and standards.
The SH 130 Segments 5 & 6 project will incorporate measures to protect the natural and built environment of Central Texas, including:
- Water pollution controls during construction and upon completion
- Protecting, monitoring and, if needed, plugging or remediating water and oil/gas wells
- Safely managing and limiting use of all hazardous materials
- Recycling construction debris and materials
- Protecting wetlands, wildlife and habitat along the route
- Mitigating noise pollution during construction and after completion
- Mitigating impacts on air quality during construction and after completion
- Mitigating impacts on historic structures and cultural resources
- Monitoring and responding to potential discovery of archeological and paleontological sites
